How KindyWords billing works, how to cancel, and your refund rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Billing & refunds

The short version: the child experience is free forever, paid plans are cancel-anytime, and your Australian Consumer Law rights always apply. Here’s the detail.

Free vs paid

The whole child experience — the mentor, the voice reply, the marked-up page, the practice email — is free, forever. Paid plans (Basic, Premium) only ever add parent-side features (the journal album, vocabulary map, insight, voice choice, reminders, family circle). Going back to free never deletes your child’s data; it simply hides the paid parent features.

Billing

Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe, at the amount and currency shown at checkout, for the interval you choose (monthly or yearly). Your renewal date and amount appear at checkout and on your Stripe receipts. We’ll give notice before any price change, and it would only ever affect future billing periods.

Cancelling

You can cancel any time — from the parent portal, or via the manage-subscription link in your Stripe receipt emails. Cancelling stops future billing; you keep your paid features until the end of the current paid period, then the account reverts to the free plan.

Refunds

If a payment fails

If a renewal payment fails, the account simply reverts to the free plan — your child’s experience carries on uninterrupted, and no child data is lost.
